Our Library is focused on the learning and enjoyment of books. We read them, discuss them, and share them. We learn about all the different genres, where books are located and how to care and respect them. We enjoy story-time, games and puzzles and various reading clubs. This is where we are preparing for higher education and skills that will not only follow us to middle school and high school but also using the public libraries.
Students visit the library weekly to learn research and information seeking skills using both online and in-house technology and reference book skills. They also learn how to use a library, from the concept of fiction and non-fiction and how to treat a book to the idea of library responsibility and behavior. However, the main purpose of our LMC is to impart the joy of good literature to our students. They hear stories, participate in an annual California-wide award event, and are able to check out books.
