We were treated to a cool, misty morning today during our first morning assembly of 2016. I reminded our students (as our teachers have been doing all week) of the importance of Monday’s holiday. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s message of tolerance and peace is just as relevant now as it was during the civil rights era of the 1960’s, and I’m proud that our Topanga students also share in this great man’s dream of what we all can accomplish when we judge others by the “content of their character,” rather than the color of their skin.
I hope all our Topanga families enjoy the three day weekend, and also find time to reflect on what we can do to make Dr. King’s dream a reality.
Topanga School Road Project – An Update
On Saturday, December 19, work began on our school road - including repair, patching and overlay of deteriorated asphalt areas.
This work was supposed to continue for six (total) consecutive Saturdays – the final Saturday being 1/23/16 (this information is on the signs that have been posted along the road). However, after that first Saturday, the team was diverted to the relocation project at Northridge and Sunny Bray (aka the Porter Ranch gas leak).
Now that those schools have been successfully relocated, I’m being told that the team will be back to our Topanga School Road tomorrow (1/16), and then for 3-4 more Saturdays until it is completed.
And the plumbing has been working all week!
Enjoy the three day weekend,
Mr. Steve Gediman, Principal
