A message from TOPANGA ELEMENTARY CHARTER SCHOOL
Dear Topanga School Community,
As we prepare to move forward together, I want you to be informed about the coming transition at Topanga Elementary School. We thank Principal Gediman for his leadership, dedication and hard work as he supported students, parents and staff over that past five years. Ms. Elizabeth Abramowitz will be serving as the interim principal at Topanga beginning on Tuesday, September 3, 2019, while we conduct a search for the next principal. Mr. Gediman and Ms. Abramowitz have communicated about school matters to ensure a smooth transition.
Local District West will work with school leaders to form a Principal Selection Advisory Committee (PSAC) composed of staff and parents as we begin the process to search for the next leader of Topanga. The process involves a survey of staff and parents, announcement of the position, collection of interested applicants, paper screening, interviews, recommendation of final candidates to Superintendent Hildreth and final selection made by Dr. Hildreth. It is important for the selection committee members to receive input from the school community. There will be a parent meeting at Topanga on Thursday, August 29, 2019, at 8:15 a.m. in the auditorium to gain input from stakeholders about principal characteristics.
If you cannot attend the meeting, please take a few minutes to provide your recommendations for the school’s next leader using the link below. The information gathered from the survey will be reviewed by the Principal Selection Advisory Committee to identify the leadership characteristics that are important to the school community and will be used throughout the selection process. The survey link will close on Friday, September 6, 2019 at noon. Ms. Elizabeth Abramowitz will remain as the Interim Principal until a permanent principal is selected. Should you have any questions please reach me at (310) 914-2100 or email@example.com.
Please know that your input is greatly appreciated.
