Traffic Duty for the Week: Ms. Winikoff’s Class
Spring is in the air (even though it’s still winter), so remember to spring forward an hour on Sunday.
Spring also means spring cleaning – so take a good look at our vast collection of lost jackets, sweaters and other fine items of clothing at the lost and found. In the middle of April (spring break) we will donate what is left, so take a look today!
Tickets are Still on Sale for Mary Poppins!
Go to http://topangamarypoppins.brownpapertickets.com
Please note that it is reserved seating. You will be given the option to select seats after you add the quantity to cart (we have heard that this might not work from a mobile phone).
Even if your child is not in Mary Poppins, you will still want to come and see the show - it will be supercalifragilistic! And we will have a feast of British food and drink, an incredible raffle and amazing flowers and jewelry on sale. Support our theatre arts by watching our superstars on stage, raising money for VAPA, and donations of raffle prizes are still being collected. Thank you!
PLEASE Drive Safely!
This week I was told that a car blocking a neighbor’s driveway almost hit someone, and many of us saw another “almost” collision on Tuesday when a car tried to quickly navigate around a school bus. These incidents, combined with the fact that we still have drivers who consider our two lane school road a three (or even four!) lane highway, are some of the reasons why I’m again pleading with everyone to slow down and drive safely! Our children’s lives are precious – please don’t put them at risk by not driving as carefully as possible on our school road.
Here Comes the Yearbook
Orders are officially OPEN for the 2018-19 Topanga Elementary Charter School Yearbook! Reserve your copy at this link: https://www.topangaelementary.org/yearbook.html
Yearbooks are $30 each and will be delivered in person, on campus, from the Spirit Shack June 5-7.
Details to come on 5th Grade Dedication Pages (and more) via your class parents, so keep an eye on your inboxes.
Save The Date For Family Disco Dance Night!
Saturday March 23 5-8pm in the school auditorium is a night you won’t want to miss! Parents, come dance to the disco music with your kids — we did this last year and everyone in attendance had a fantastic time. Food and drinks are included, just $20 per person to dance the night away. Kids, use the student council box in the school office to suggest your favorite songs for the DJ, or to let us know if you’d like to help with decorations, setup, posters, or any other part of the event! Join a committee to be a part! Parents, if you want to get involved or have questions, please contact email@example.com (310) 663-2571 mobile/text
A Message from Supervisor Kuehl’s Office
My name is Tessa Charnofsky and I am the “new” West Valley and Mountain Communities District Director from the Office of Supervisor Sheila Kuehl, and we are working with the Topanga Emergency Management Task Force, the Topanga Coalition for Emergency Preparedness, the Topanga Town Council and others to plan the annual Topanga Canyon Emergency Preparedness Fair, and we are looking for parents to help us!
The event will take place May 5th at the Topanga Community Center and will include dozens of booths, speakers and children’s activities, all related to safety.
We have a very small planning committee, and we could use a few more people to join us! Our next meeting is Tuesday March 26th at noon at the Community Center.
Please let me know if you are able to join our committee, if not Tuesday, at the next one.
I can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org
The 5th annual TECS Science Fair is April 9-10

Save the Date — Topanga Elementary’s Annual Spring Auction: Saturday, May 4 Location TBD
Parents! We’ve set a date for everyone’s favorite event and our largest fundraiser of the year, the Spring Auction! Please save the date!
Given the event’s early May date, it only made sense to go with a Cinco de Mayo theme 🇲🇽 — which will mean fantastic Mexican food, margaritas y cerveza, great music and more! Plus, an incredible variety of items to bid on in the silent auction and fun-filled live auction.
If you would like to be involved — we will need help with planning, setting up, hosting the event, bartending, etc. — or have anything you would be able to donate for the auction (i.e. artworks, concert tickets, vacation home stays, unique services, wine, etc.), please reach out: email@example.com
Watch for more information about venue, tickets, menu and more in the coming weeks!
See you Monday,
Mr. Steve Gediman, Principal
