Traffic Duty for the Week: Ms. Kort’s Class
I could tell that our volunteers enjoyed their Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast this morning – what was not to like? Once we coaxed the parents and teachers out of the lounge, we had time to talk about how much we enjoyed Open House – the rooms looked great, and the turnout was tremendous. This was also our last five day week of the school year – there’s no school on Monday (Memorial Day), and the week after that is the last week of school, which ends on a Thursday. As a special treat, Ms. Chatham’s second graders sang a tribute to our much appreciated parent volunteers – and they gave out flowers!
Have you visited the Lost and Found lately? Better hurry – the clothes rack is nearly overflowing, and very soon we’ll be donating it all to make room for more lost clothes. If you’re missing a jacket or sweater – visit the Lost and Found today!
Spellcheck Final Results:
Together, our community raised $14,200 for the school! We’re missing a few pledges here and there, and so we’ve reached out earlier this week to do some housekeeping. If you have any questions or concerns (aka “Did I pay?!”), you can email email@example.com and she will do her best to help you sort it all out.
Spellcheck Medals & Ribbons will be awarded NEXT Friday, June 1st. Certificates will go home in backpacks that day as well!
Classroom Size Reduction Teacher FUNdraiser!
TEP did a poll, and it turns out that “CSR (Classroom Size Reduction) Teacher” is a top priority from grades TK on up! Great news - because we’ve got an opportunity to extend our fundraising beyond just Topanga families:
Come to Topanga Days and visit the dunk tank, and drop a moderate sum to show off your pitching arm while you send a school supporter (parent, teacher or community member) plunging into the cold (aka maybe cool & refreshing) water!
OR pick one of 2 other ways to show your support for the children of Topanga Elementary:
1. Sign up here to take the seat and be dunked—or, if you prefer, volunteer to take tickets from those who want to send someone swimming: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0a48aaa728abfb6-take (LOTS OF SLOTS AVAILABLE FOR MONDAY aka “Locals” Day!)
2. Volunteer to help run the FunZone kids area by emailing Heather Bryant at firstname.lastname@example.org
This fundraiser is a harmonious collaboration between the Topanga Community Club and Topanga Enrichment Programs —with the proceeds of the dunk tank being evenly split between these two non-profit organizations serving our community, and 25% of funds collected from the Kid Zone coming to our school—all earmarked for the Classroom Size Reduction Teacher!
Thank you for your participation—It's the people that make the difference--and TEP and the TCC appreciate the many active, engaged, and helpful community members investing their time and donations to support us!
Community Council . . . (a message from Andrea Shreeman)
. . . is being held on Tuesday, May 29th from 5-7pm in the Topanga Library Meeting Room. Join us as we pass the talking piece to listen, and be heard. There is no cost for this event, it is an offering from the heart, for everyone who cares about our school and community. Adults 17 and up are welcome. This is not a school sponsored event. Please direct your questions to TopangaCommunityCouncil@gmail.com
The yearbook pre-orders have closed for 2017-18! If you meant to order, but forgot/just found the purple order form behind your couch cushions, don’t panic! There will be a limited number* available for purchase at the full price of $40. Please contact Stacie Burrows at email@example.com if you’d like to reserve one of those or aren’t sure if you DID order—she can let you know. *
First come, first served, while supplies last.
All yearbooks will be distributed the last week of school.
Enjoy the three day weekend,
Mr. Steve Gediman, Principal
