Traffic Duty for the Week: Ms. Kort’s Class
It was great joining many families on the upper yard yesterday after school as we waited for the arrival of Beth Pratt-Bergstrom and her team from the National Wildlife Federation. It’s hard to believe it’s been a year since Beth visited our school (riding a white horse) for our first P22 day! It was a wonderful evening of science, adventure and community – kudos to Misty Vest (it wouldn’t have happened without her), Jared Vest and Rena Benor for their dedication and hard work.
This morning we continued our P-22 Day celebrations as part of our morning assembly. Our first graders entered with P-22 masks, Kinders got into the spirit, and the 5th graders entertained us with a play on the journey of P-22 as well as sharing mountain lion facts. We wrapped it up by singing the P-22 song, composed by our own science teacher/lyricist Ms. Benor.
If you can’t get enough of P22 (and who can?) you’ll want to join Ms. Vest, Ms. Benor and Beth Pratt on stage this Sunday in Griffith Park for more P22 festivities.
The Great California Shake Out
On Thursday we all participated in the Great California Shake Out drill, putting our students and staff through a full scale simulation including search and rescue teams going through the campus until all were accounted for. Hopefully, our families take this time to make sure you have emergency supplies at home (food, water, flashlights and a first aid kit), and a plan for what to do in case of earthquake or fire.
The Halloween Carnival is Tomorrow 10/21!
AT THE TOPANGA COMMUNITY HOUSE 3:30 - 8:30 PM
Class sponsored carnival games, face painting, gourmet foods, dance party and live music! It's a community event not to be missed!

Boo Grams Are Here!
Get out the list of those you want to scare! We are taking your orders now for scary, spooky Halloween creepy crawlies for your friends and teachers. Your special Boo Grams will be sent creeping to those you chose on Halloween, Oct. 31th. Please put in your request for Boo Grams at the Spirit Booth on campus (mornings only) or grab some boo grams in the office to fill out and bring back with your cash! We have also attached Boo Grams here for you to print out, color at home and bring in to the Spirit Booth. Let those people who really freak you out know you are thinking of them! (Vincent Price laugh...).
The Book Fair is Coming!
Join us at the WILD WEST BOOK FAIR - where everyone can "Saddle up and Read"!
Our school's book fair kicks off on Friday, November 3rd from 4-7pm with our annual Pajamarama event. TEP will be there with kid-friendly food for purchase (all proceeds benefit Topanga Elementary Programs) so you can join in all the fun--and still get them fed & in bed at a reasonable hour! Stay tuned for more details as we get closer. And if you're the type who likes to sign up for volunteer opportunities early, click on the link below:
See you at the Carnival,
