I heard our Kinder students enjoyed the play, and I’m sure they were a good audience. That’s important because they were wearing our new Topanga Elementary tee shirts – so they were proudly representing our school. I’m very pleased with the way our new school shirts turned out, and I’m glad that TEP is supplying every student with their own shirt. If you are helping out on a field trip, remember that if you want to take your child home before the end of the school day, he or she must be signed out from the school. I appreciate your cooperation so that we always have an accurate account of all of our students. A week from this Thursday, all parents are invited to an evening of learning and community at our school. I will be speaking about the new Smarter Balanced test scores that were recently sent home to last year's 3-5th grade parents, and parent representatives from the leadership council and TEP will be attending to join in the discussion. We invite you to join us on Thursday, October 29th from 7:00 to 8:30 pm in Room 8. The Halloween Carnival at the Topanga Community House is Tomorrow! Get those tickets online! Would you care to help out at the Carnival? Volunteer spots are still available right here: http://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0c4eadab22aafa7-annual Carnival Update: WE WANT EVERYONE THERE!!! If the entrance fee presents a problem to you and your family financially, or if you know a family in the school that could benefit by a complimentary pass, please let SOMEONE ON TEP know by the morning of the carnival and your name will be placed on the guest list. WE KNOW THE PRICES ARE HIGH...WE DONT WANT TO SCARE YOU AWAY!! Shrek is Coming We have been waiting for years and finally it's here, this year's spring musical is the highly anticipated story of SHREK. Yeah!!! Shrek Jr. is a family-friendly comedy that follows the adventures of an ogre named Shrek who sets off on a quest to save a princess from a dragon; however, it turns out that in order to ultimately succeed, Shrek must battle different obstacles, including learning how to believe in himself. Unlike previous years' plays, this one has lots of characters with speaking roles. Does your child like to perform? Sing, dance or act? Our school is known for its amazing plays. This is a great opportunity for your child to come out and have a fun theatre experience. Auditions are coming at the end of October and the full rehearsal schedule begins after the winter break. Registration is now open. You can find all parent information, registration materials, audition information etc. on our play website: https://shrektopangaelementary.shutterfly.com If you have any trouble with the website please contact Debra Shier Grether or Lisa Ward.
