Thank you science committee parents and everyone else who helped to make our first Raptor Day a success! During the four performances held in our wonderful outdoor amphitheater the students were amazed by the demonstrations and lectures about raptors and assorted reptiles. A great time was had by all!
Our overworked office staff tries to handle important calls and messages regarding our students – but we can’t guarantee that messages regarding after school plans will be delivered to your child in a timely manner. Please try to let your child know about after school plans before school. Also, you don’t need to call the office to let us know you are running late for dismissal – if they are in grades 2-5, we will automatically send them to the upper yard, and you can meet them there. Kinder and 1st grade students are not allowed in the Youth Services program with Coach Derek.
Wednesday is a Regular Day – Hope You Enjoyed the Halloween Carnival!
One of my favorite things about Topanga Elementary School is how we have our big Halloween Carnival before Halloween! Our students and their families had a lot of fun dressing up, playing games, dancing to the band, and enjoying the food and drink.
Wednesday, October 31st is, however, a regular school day. That means no costumes, no candy, and no early dismissal. For those who want even more of the Halloween experience, I’m reminding our students that they may go trick-or-treating after school only with the permission of their parents and only with adult supervision in areas that are well-known to the adults and children. I suggest going before dark, but if you are out late be sure to bring flashlights and be sure dark colored costumes have some reflective or white markings on them.
Traffic is scary on any day, but on a holiday like Halloween there is a good chance that drivers are not completely paying attention... Be careful out there!
FALL VARIETY SHOW - NEXT FRIDAY 2ND NOVEMBER!!!
The dozens of kids performing in the show have been working so hard on their acts for weeks now. It’s gonna be a great show!!!
ART SUBMISSIONS DEADLINE IS THIS MONDAY 29th Oct!
We’d love as many kids as possible to have their work showcased in the night time Art Walk. You have all weekend to work with glow-in-the-dark paints, neon paint, glitter etc. Any size and any medium is encouraged! Please bring all submissions to school for collection from all classes first thing Monday.
We will be sending out a schedule shortly for Monday and Thursday rehearsals.
We still need a couple of volunteers to help with donating food concessions, lighting and kid wrangling at rehearsals and performance. Sign up here!
And don’t forget to buy tickets from the school website in advance as seating will be limited.
Last Call for Coyote Run Pledges!
Thanks so much for participating in the Coyote Run Fundraiser! The kids did an incredible job running AND raising funds for our precious school and its wonderful programs! Now, we just need to make sure that we collect all of the pledges. :)
Please remember to turn in ALL pledges to the front office (or you can pay online - https://www.topangaelementary.org/donate.html - but make sure to note child's name/teacher) --- no later than this Monday, October 29. We will then tally each class total and award the winning class(es) with a pizza party! 100% of proceeds go directly to TEP. Thank you!
