I hope to see many of you tonight at our annual Book Fair Kickoff / Pajamarama. It was pretty cozy wearing my robe this morning so I could participate in this event, but by 9:00 am I was up on the trails with a fourth grade class measuring oak trees, and it got a little warm. Later, I was super proud of our two Kindergarten classes as they finallywere able to take their own science hike (their last two opportunities were cancelled because of extreme heat). Even our Kinders have the Topanga spirit; they kept up on the trails, and they made valuable observations on the way. Let’s hope the weather stays favorable on Fridays so we can continue to explore the oak woodlands above our campus.
The construction on our Topanga School Road this week should be concluded today. The purpose of the project was to give our school an underground fiber optic cable connection to the Internet, which we very much needed. Thanks for bearing with us – and I should have more news on improving our school road very soon.
Our Student Council candidates will conclude their campaign on Tuesday with speeches, and then our 3rd – 5th graders will vote for student council officers and class representatives. No matter who wins, I have great respect and admiration for everyone who is running. Participating in this process is something that will help our students become more responsible and active members of our community. I’m looking forward to our council tackling some of our biggest concerns, including launching new recycling and anti-littering programs to help beautify our school and protect our environment.
