Our students shined brightly today during both performances of “The Magic of Winter.” Hats off to our teachers and aides for working hard with our classes – and, as usual, I was overwhelmed by the good wishes and positive energy from our parents and families. It was a great day, and a wonderful way to welcome the holiday season.
Someone may have picked up Fin Nance’s violin by mistake a week ago (Dec. 11th). If so, please let us know.

Good News about the Topanga School Road
All the hard work by parents, our school board representative and District personnel has finally paid off , and Topanga Elementary Charter is getting a very special Christmas present – a new road!
Beginning tomorrow, work will begin on our school road which includes repair, patching and overlay of deteriorated asphalt areas. They will be working on the road from 8:00 am to 4:00 PM tomorrow, and then again for six (total) consecutive Saturdays – the final Saturday being 1/23/16. I’m being told that the result will not merely be a repair job, but a completely rebuilt road. And just in time for those big rains I keep hearing about . . .
Candy Cane Lane – One More Night!
Our parent volunteers will be working one more night (tonight) – so come by and say hi!
Candy Cane Lane holiday lights and decorations have been a tradition in Woodland Hills since 1952. Every year, thousands of visitors come to the College Acres neighborhood between Winnetka to Corbin and the 101 Freeway to Oxnard. Last year alone there were over 12,000 check ins.
Mid-December to Christmas is bumper to bumper traffic with families in the spirit to see the lights. One of our Topanga Elementary families decorates and lives in this neighborhood, and is kindly offering their home to raise money for Topanga Elementary. We need help from each class to make this fundraiser a success. The theme this year will be Frozen, and we plan to have available hot cocoa and baked goods as well as a live Anna and Elsa photo op for donations. Please come enjoy the holiday spirit and help us with this fantastic way to raise money for our school. Parking for the event is on Martha Street facing Corbin for an easy exit. Donate your time, and then enjoy the lights!
Location: 5654 Oakdale Ave, Woodland Hills
When: Dec 18th 6-9pm

I hope all our Topanga families have a good, restful winter break. Enjoy the time with family and friends – and we’ll see everyone again next year! (well, January 11th of next year).
Happy Christmas, Kwanzaa, Hanukkah and New Year!
