There are lots of opportunities coming up for our Topanga students and families to help make our environment a cleaner and better place.
This Saturday the fifth grade is volunteering to Heal the Bay at Topanga Beach. Kyley Jacoby, a fifth grade mom, will be there at 9:00 a.m. to meet you at the lifeguard station with all the proper forms to participate. If you can make it, this could be a great activity for the whole family.
Our own Student Council has been spearheading anti-littering efforts here on campus, and beginning Monday they will be leading our school in recycling our food and trash at lunchtime. On a related note, even though we know that glass is more eco-friendly than plastic, we’ve had a couple of glass containers break during lunch – and we all know that broken glass and kids don’t mix. Please skip the glass – but the metal containers are a great alternative.
Don’t forget to send your child with his/her instrument on Friday! We are getting a lot of instruments delivered during the day, and we can’t always get them to your child on time . . .
Because of a monthly cafeteria audit, the salad bar will not be available during February.
If you are interested in getting on the clean-up bandwagon, Bridget Gardner will once again be leading the charge on Trashy Tuesday, Feb. 2nd. She’ll have gloves and trash bags and a few picker-uppers – so join her after school (1:45 p.m.) in front of the auditorium.
Parking and traffic are always serious matters here, but now with play practice going on, it’s even more important to watch where you are going and parking. This week a fence at the top of the fire road near the auditorium was damaged by someone’s car. We’re glad no one was hurt, but we are going to have to restrict access to the fire road after school. If you need to bring something up the hill that necessitates using your car, please ask us in the office to open the gate.
And now . . .
