Fri Apr 15 Field Lab Day: Saporta/Tapper/Batz (5th) Sat May 14 “That’s So Topanga” Auction Night @ TCC, 5-11 p.m. Traffic Duty for the Week: Ms. Weisberg’s Class Frozen Treat Sales: Ms. Galindo’s Class Reminders/Updates: While there are still two months left of school, this is the time that we begin to look forward and plan for the next school year, which begins on August 16th. As announced in the last Focus, our Leadership and TEP boards have approved the purchase of an additional teacher position in the upper grades in order to lower class size (and unsplit our 4th/5th grade split class). On Monday, in addition to the usual monthly TEP meeting on campus, Bonnie Graves and other parent leadership representatives and interested parents will be meeting at the Topanga Public Library. Here is Ms. Graves' message: There are two meetings on Monday and parents are welcomed at both: 1) Town Hall Urgent Meeting at the Public Library for current 3rd and 4th grade families: Attention all current 3rd and 4th grade parents. Does class size matter to you? Are you concerned about student body attrition at our elementary school? Please come out to a critical parent meeting to discuss our need for a CSR teacher (Class Size Reduction). If we do not hire and fund this position, our upper grade classes next year could be as large as 39 students - overwhelming for any teacher and unfair to our students. We need your help and your checkbook to make sure this doesn't happen. WHEN: Monday, April 11th at 6:30 pm WHERE: Topanga Public Library, Conference Room WHO: TEP reps, Leadership Council reps, concerned parents. WHAT: How can we fund this teacher position ASAP? Strategies, ideas, participation. 2) The regularly scheduled TEP Meeting at TECS – starting at 7:30 pm. The Great American Spellcheck Pledged Funds Due Next Wednesday, April 13th Your children did an amazing job collecting pledges and studying for the Spellcheck test, and now we need your help with getting all of the donations in by Wednesday, April 13th. (Checks made out to T.E.P. and returned to your teachers). This event will bring in over $18,000 for our school if all pledged donations are received!! Awards, ribbons and certificates will handed out next Friday, April 15th, and one class will be thrown a party. It's not too late to pledge/donate if you did not get a chance to get your form in by the test date. Thank you for your participation and helping to make this a fun and successful event for our school! Anyone for Ballet?
