A Note From the Principal
We had a great week and I have just a few notes for you.
All students who haven’t been picked up after school, grades 2 – 5, will be sent to the upper at 3:00p.m. (M, W, F) and 2:00p.m. (T, Th) for their safety.
I have conferenced with Rick Castro, our LAUSD Regional Beyond The Bell Director, regarding 6th grade students attending Beyond the Bell after school program. Per bulletin Memo-076309 “The Beyond the Bell-Youth Services after school program is open only to LAUSD student who attend the school where the program is located.” Mr. Castro is available to clarify this policy and answer your questions.
Coach Derek would like to welcome our 2nd through 5th graders to come take advantage of the many daily activities of after school program. We have some great events planned for this 2019-2020 school year, such as team tournaments and our end of the year Marathon at Dodger Stadium. Please come see Coach Derek for more information.
This month’s leadership meeting has been moved to September 24, due to scheduling conflicts. Thank you for your understanding.
Fridays are Spirit Day’s! Be sure to wear your Topanga Elementary Shirts or pick up a Topanga Elementary sweat shirt from the Spirit Shack!!
The green zone in the circle is a loading zone (20 minute parking), so please let’s keep it clear for quick drop offs and pick up’s throughout the day.
Parents. The deadline for submission for Friday Focus will be the day before (Thursday), before noon, all submissions received after noon will appear the following week.
Also, if you have something you would like to discuss with leadership please send an email with what it is regarding and I will try to put you on the schedule.
If you would like to contact me the best ways are to leave a message with the office, or email Topangaemail@example.com, I do not check my email regularly and this address is checked multiple times a day.
Have a great weekend,
Elizabeth Abramowitz, Interim Principal

Topanga Elementary Coyote Fun Run Friday, September 27th.
We are sending students home with their pledge sheets, so make sure to check their backpacks daily. We have a school wide goal of 15 laps and 5 pledges per student – but feel free to blow us away by getting as many friends and family members to sponsor your child. Return your pledges to your child's teacher by Thursday, Sept 26th. The class that brings in the most donations will receive a pizza party. We are looking for two parents from each class to help out during the run. If you're interested, please email email@example.com. Finally, please remember to dress your child in proper running attire and tennis shoes on the day of the run.

Build on the tradition and maybe even infuse with a few new ideas of your own—maybe even some of those cool Pinterest ideas you’ve always wanted to try out! Reach out to Julianne Gorman, TEP President at firstname.lastname@example.org to learn more and get started—and to be introduced to the Scholastic Book Fair Representative who will coach you through the process!
We are now 14% to our total fundraising goal of $302,605, with $43,605 raised as of 9/7!
We offer a heartfelt THANK YOU to all of those who have stepped up early…and here’s the link for those of you who want it, need it, gotta get this vital support checked off your to do list:
Donations are not mandatory, but are also not something we can do without. It costs an average of $1,200 per child to cover all the amazing programs we have, so that is our ask. We recognize that everyone’s situation is different—so if the recommended amount won’t work for your family, please give what is meaningful to you.
The TEP Board is a group of elected members who are all PARENT VOLUNTEERS. We love throwing the parties, cooking up fundraisers and creating memories for our kids—all while supporting the school & the education of our children. Interested in joining in? Contact Julianne Gorman at email@example.com
